Jesus replied, “Are you not in error because you do not know the Scriptures or the power of God?” Mark 12:24 Mistakes are always costly. In business, errors are eventually revealed, and though unintentional, usually result in money coming out of my pocket. Concerning eternal matters the consequences for being wrong are severe. We all share the same problem. “There is a way that seems … Continue reading Greatly Mistaken
Often, we get a better understanding of what something is, by what it is not. Unfaithfulness is one of those words. There is nothing sadder than the harm that comes to a relationship after one of the parties has been unreliable, untrustworthy, disloyal and untrue. No matter how great the love was, there is an end. I Know that God initiated our relationship and I … Continue reading Faithful To The End
Peter declared, “Even if all fall away I will not”. “Truly I tell you,” Jesus answered, “today yes tonight, before the rooster crows twice, you yourself will disown Me three times.” But Peter insisted emphatically, “Even if I have to die with You, I will never disown You.” And all the others said the same. Mark 14:29-31 Sometimes our greatest strength can be our greatest … Continue reading What Comes Easy For You?
But Abraham replied…”between us and you a great chasm has been set in place, so that those who want to go from here to you cannot, nor can anyone cross over from there to us.” He answered, “Then I beg you father, send Lazarus to my family, for I have 5 brothers. Let him warn them so that they will not also come to this … Continue reading Entrusted with the Gospel
“One of the criminals who hung there hurled insults at Him: “Aren’t you the Messiah? Save Yourself and us!” But the other criminal rebuked him. “Don’t you fear God since we are under the same sentence? We are punished justly, for we are getting what our deeds deserve. But this Man has done nothing wrong.” Luke 23:39-41 When I read a book, I read the … Continue reading The Best Short Story Ever Told
“For this is what the Sovereign Lord says: I Myself will search for My sheep and look after them. As a shepherd looks after his scattered flock when he is with them, so will I look after My sheep. I will rescue them from all the places where they were scattered on a day of clouds and darkness.” Ezekiel 34:11-12 Years ago, I was in … Continue reading Follow the Good Shepherd
We gaze into the mirror every morning counting on it to show us the good and the bad. The reflection might reveal unpleasant wrinkles and aging, yet this doesn’t keep us from our next appointment with the mirror. God’s commandments are like a mirror. They simply reveal the truth that we are sinners. No more, no less. God wants us to see ourselves as He … Continue reading God’s Mirror
As we approach Christmas, once again I ponder the coming of the Son of God. The day of His visitation was foretold. In eternity He was not bound by any means. At the right time, He entered a world that would now limit Him. When He created this world, He knew one day He would come to die for His people. These were not good … Continue reading Through His Poverty
When the teachers of the law who were Pharisees saw Him eating with the sinners and tax collectors, they asked His disciples: “Why does He eat with tax collectors and sinners?” On hearing this Jesus said to them, “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners.”Mark 2:16-17 The day I buried … Continue reading Another Man’s Righteousness
Day after day every priest stands and performs his religious duties. Again, and again he offers the same sacrifices which can never take away sins. But when this priest had offered for all time one sacrifice for sins, he sat down at the right hand of God. Hebrews 10:11-12 In eternity was the Lamb who was slain from the creation of the world. God’s grace was given … Continue reading With His Own Blood
